A goal determines the direction of a person's efforts. It can make people avoid many detours and waste a lot of energy. After you have a goal, your route will move closer to it consciously or unconsciously.But when you can't see the goal clearly, your actions will lose direction and your will may be blurred.Please look at the following cases:
34-year-old Florence Chadwick from the United States was the first woman to cross the English Channel.One day, she decided to take on a higher goal, the Catalina Channel Challenge.
Prepared, Florence Chadwick swam from Catalina, 21 miles west of the California Channel, to the California Channel.That day, thick fog shrouded the sea, and she could hardly see the escort ship. The sea water was so cold that her body was numb.After 15 hours, she felt tired and cold and finally decided to give up and asked the escort ship to take her aboard.The coach and her mother who were on the boat told her that the coast was very close and not to give up.But when she looked toward the California coast, the fog was so thick that she couldn't see anything!After swimming for 15 hours and 55 minutes, she finally gave up and was pulled aboard.Sadly, it’s only half a mile off the California coast!Faced with the problem, she concluded that it was not fatigue or cold that made her give up halfway, but because she could not see the original goal in the thick fog.The vagueness of the goal shook her faith.
Two months later, with her goal in mind concrete and clear, she successfully swam across the strait.
